I have been golfing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I didn’t want to be a fireman, policeman or cowboy. I wanted to be a professional golfer. As most children grow up, they grow out of the phase of wanting to be an astronaut, rock star or whatever. But of course some children do grow up to fulfill their childhood dreams. Otherwise we wouldn’t have any policemen, firemen, astronauts and so on. Well I was bent on the idea of being a professional golfer.
I’m really very good at it to. I have a room full of trophies to show for it. I’ve also won all kinds of equipment and apparel. Unfortunately I am starting to recognize that I am not good enough for the professional golf tour. So what now? I really wanted this to be my job for the rest of my life.
I’m thinking that I don’t want to abandon golf altogether as way to make a living. I know I would do well, and be happy with a pro golf career. Maybe it’s not the fame and fortune of being in the spotlight. And maybe there won’t be the product sponsorships and endorsements. But I could teach golf. I’m not talking about just putting an ad on Craigslist or in the newspaper saying “I teach golf” either. I’m thinking about signing up for one of the golf colleges instead.
